It's believed that today's township of Mooloolah stands on the original geographical divide between two Aboriginal tribes, the Udanbi and the Nalbo.
This was probably an "Aboriginal road" long before white settlers came into the area around the 1840s. The Mooloolah River, a 41km journey from the Blackall Range to the ocean at Mooloolaba, played a vital part in the town's early transportation and communication links to the outside world.
"Mullu" is an aboriginal word for Mooloolah, meaning red bellied black snake!
