Settled by fruit growers in 1887, sleepy little Montville
has sprung to life in recent years to become a magnet for visitors.
Perched atop the Blackall Range with panoramic views over the length
of the Sunshine Coast below, this regular "Tidy Town" winner
resembles a traditional English settlement built around the village green.
Daytrippers flock here to wander the maze of shops, potteries,
galleries, cafes and restaurants. There's a signposted Heritage
Trail through the village and the Country Women's Association
has created a fascinating Senses Trail. An enjoyable short drive
or energetic tramp down picturesque Western Avenue
(Montville's other street!) gives access to the northern side
of beautiful Lake Baroon.
For visitors there's an extensive choice of accommodation for
all tastes and budgets. But be warned, advance bookings are
recommended, especially over weekends and the popular winter months.
