Ben Phipps

Ben Phipps of Maleny took out the Young Citizen of the Year Award at the Caloundra City Council's Australia Day Awards for 2003.

He is also a long time volunteer of the Maleny Rural Fire Service having joined up before he was old enough to drive a truck.

Today Ben is an active rural fire fighter and assists in the training of others.

Ben joined the Navel Cadets at 16 and is now a Petty Officer and volunteer instructor.

He was awarded Cadet of the Year by TS Centaur two years ago.
