ABOUT THE CLUB
|
The Maleny Junior Cricket Club is an
affiliate of the Maleny Cricket Club. It was reactivated in 1985/86 season
following some years in recess. It provides an opportunity for children
from 6 years to 16 years to participate in different stages of development,
based on age and ability. The club now has 70 playing members. The playing
grounds and practice facilities are at the Maleny Showgrounds and are
as good as any on the Sunshione Coast. Last season 4 new practice nets were
erected at a costs of close to $20000.

TEAMS
|
- Have-a-go: -for
the younger age group to learn basic skills. Played with plastic
balls and bats and is usually run after school one afternoon a week.
- Under 10's: -for
any child who has not turned 10 by the 30th September of that season.
This level ius non competetive and played to modified rules.
- Under 12's: -for
any child who has not turned 12 by ther 30th September of that season.
Graded on ability. 12A is the first level of competetive cricket.
12B and 12C are usually non-competetive and played to modified rules.
- Under 14's and Under
16's: - The 30th September age limit applies to both levels.
They are graded by ablity and are both played under normal cricket
rules.

COACHING
|
Coaches are provided for all teams and most coaches
have at least a level "0" qualification. Training is held one afternoon
a week after school. The club also has at least one specialised coaching
clinic a season with a Level 2 coach (A Grade or above).

| The 2000/2001 season will commence on
Saturday 7th October. Sign on day is 26th August at Maleny Showgrounds.
