Pets in National Parks

Irresponsible pet owners taking their animals into National Park areas are a danger to our wildlife. These people will continue to do so regarless of what the law requires. Dumping domestic animals has also been a promblem with animals surviving and breeding to become ferral. Wild domestic dogs crossbreeding with Dingos are a problem, as are ferral pigs. However the people responsible for the cruel and senseless act of pet dumping are typically not people who travel or holiday with their pets. The laws will effect bee keepers as well, though I am not sure of the damage, if any that bees present to the native flora. Horse riders stick to tracks through the state forests and present little or no damage. The biggest threat to our state forest and national park areas are groundsel and lantana, neither of which are eaten and dispersed by horses, bees, dogs or people.
